"Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do." (Hebrews 4:13, KJV)

Among the many truths the Bible makes clear is that the Lord sees everything about us; He sees our life in its entirety. On one hand, this truth is deeply comforting, for it reminds us that we are not alone. The Lord is neither distant nor detached. He watches over each of us. Yet, the awareness that the Lord sees everything about us is also deeply convicting. How can it not be when we realize that "all things are naked and opened" before Him: there are no secrets; there is no hiding behind the mask of false pretense or the paper-thin walls of excuses. God sees every square inch of our private lives: every weakness; every bad decision; every time we give in to temptation. The Hebrew writer reminds us that one day we will literally stand before and give an account of our lives to the One who has seen every aspect of our earthly existence (2 Corinthians 5:10). Truth is, if the writer ended at the 13th verse, we’d all have a reason to despair. But, as we continue to read, we find that we have a great High Priest! One who advocates for us. One who is not indifferent to the things we go through but who understands them fully; and makes clear to us that the God who sees us also sympathizes with us! But there's more: we are encouraged to come before His throne of grace, with confidence, "that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." That if we choose to come before Him in transparent honesty, we will receive His grace and Jesus, our High Priest and Intercessor, has made it all possible.

Yes, we are fully seen, but we are also fully loved.
